“The job of the physician is to cure sometimes, heal often and be compassionate and supportive always"
Hippocrates

“Over the past 20 years, I have had the opportunity to treat as a medical doctor a wide variety of people—particularly those whose symptoms persisted despite intensive treatment by Western medicine. It inspires me to offer Traditional medicine and Lifestyle medicine that results often in clear improvement or even complete recovery.”
I studied Western medicine at the University of Leiden followed by a three year specialisation in Family Medicine at the University of Groningen and two year specialisation in palliatieve care at the University of Amsterdam. Meanwhile I got trained in Lifestyle Medicine.
In 2005 I met Lama Gangchen Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama Healer. This meeting transformed my life in many ways. Over the following fifteen years my husband, Prof. Dr. Rogier Hoenders and I had the privilege learning from him about meditation, yoga and Tibetan medicine. I am deeply inspired by his boundless wisdom and compassion. This opened my heart and mind in ways words cannot express.
From 2009-2022 I worked as a family doctor and palliative care specialist in the Netherlands.
Since 2018 I also got trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a wish that was fulfilled after many years. Nowadays I am working with different Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques like dr Tan, dr Tung ( Balance Method), Zang Fu, and Kiiko Matsumoto.
In Albagnano, a sacred healing place near Val Grande and the holy mountain of Giffa, that is acknowledged by Druids and Katholics, Lama Gangchen Rinpoche founded his Albagnano Healing Meditation Center.
His vision was to create space for health, healing, and inner peace, both from a spiritual and medical point of view.
In these precious personal moments, Lama Gangchen Rinpoche shared his wish to create a professional healing place in Albagnano. After the death of Lama Gangchen Rinpcohe in April 2021, Lama Michel Rinpoche continued this work at Albagnano. Also my husband and I started to redirect our work with a deep whish to continue his legacy with love, dedication and gratitude.
